CNN's latest poll out this afternoon has some of the worst news yet for John McCain. He's not just losing nationally - now Americans don't think he cares about them or has a plan once he's in office. They're making it clear that, when it comes to their future, they only trust one of these candidates.
In a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll out Tuesday afternoon, 55 percent of registered voters questioned say that Obama "cares more about people like you" than Sen. John McCain, with 35 percent saying McCain cares more than Obama. That 20-point margin for Obama is up from a 9-point advantage a month ago...
Obama also appears to be building a lead as the candidate with the clearer plan to solve the country's problems. He has a 15-point lead over McCain on that question in the poll, 48 percent to 33 percent. Last month, McCain had a 2-point advantage over Obama on the topic of having a clearer plan.
In the last month, Obama has gone up 11% in the "Cares about me" category, and 17% in the "Has a clear plan" category.
Obama is also sporting a 62% favorable rating in this poll.
McCain is screwed.
Obama is both liked as a person, and respected as a leader. Any more attempts by McCain to shift the narrative by going negative will continue to backfire. The country wants a leader, not an attacker, and they've decided that the leader they want, and need, is Barack Obama.
Some may chide me for saying it, but we're into landslide territory at this point. And that doesn't mean you stop volunteering, making calls, and driving your neighbors to the polls. But it does mean you get to start acting like a winner. And it means the other guys start to feel like losers, they feel demoralized, and they don't show up like we show up.
Because Obama's going to win. And that means America is going to win.
